Aircraft Description
Background/History
Cessna made a significant advancement in the development of its popular Citation line with the introduction of the Citation III which made its first flight in 1979. The Citation III was an entirely new airframe featuring a swept wing with a supercritical airfoil optimized for high-speed, long-range flight. It was certified in April 1982 with first customer deliveries in 1983. In 1991, the Citation III was replaced by its follow-on, the Citation VI. While the Citation VI was physically the same aircraft as the earlier Citation III, it was offered at a lower initial cost because Cessna was able to limit interior options and standardize the avionics package. Production of the Citation VI series was ended in 1995 in favor of the Citation VII after 38 aircraft were built.
Power
The Citation VI is powered by two Garrett TFE 731-3C-100 two-spool, geared turbofan engines rated at 3,650lbs. of thrust each. Inspection interval on the engines is 4,200 hours.
Avionics
The Honeywell SPZ-650 analog flight control system with five-tube EFIS display is standard equipment on the Citation VI. Also standard are Honeywell Primus 650 color weather radar and AZ 810 digital air data system, Collins comm/nav/ID radios and the Global Wulfsberg GNS- X flight management system.
Design Features
The Citation VI is configured as a cantilever low swept-wing monoplane with a swept T-tail. Retractable tricycle landing gear incorporates a trailing link design with two wheels on each main unit and a single nose wheel. Each wing has four spoilers which are hydraulically actuated. The outboard spoilers augment the ailerons for roll controll, two center spoilers act as speed brakes and the inboard panels are used as ground spoilers. Flaps are of composite graphite and Kevlar construction. Bleed air is used to anti-ice the wing leading edge and engine inlet areas.
Accomodations
The Citation VI is typically equipped for six to nine passengers. The standard interior layout includes a lavatory and refreshment center in the relatively roomy cabin. Cabin dimensions are 5.9ft in height, 5.8ft. in width and 18ft. in length.
