Embraer Phenom 300 Specs and Description

Aircraft Description

Background/History

Embraer is a Brazil-based company that specializes in executive jets, commercial jets and defense-systems aircrafts. The company, which began in 1969, is one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world. In May 2005 Embraer announced plans to produce two new executive jets, the Phenom100 and the Phenom 300. The Phenom 300 is configured to accommodate up to nine occupants. The jet is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E engines with 3,200 pounds of thrust each. Its range with six occupants is 1,800 nautical miles (3,334 km or 2,071 miles) with NBAA IFR reserves, 35 minutes and 100 nm alternate. The aircraft is capable of flying at 45,000 feet (13,716 meters) at a maximum operating speed of Mach 0.78 and is also designed for short-field takeoffs. The Phenom 300 entered service in the US in late-2009 with European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) certification granted in April 2010.

Power

The Phenom 300 is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW535E engines with 3,200 pounds of thrust each. The overhaul interval is 5000 hours.

Avionics

The aircraft is equipped with an Embraer Prodigy flight deck with a G1000 all-glass avionics suite by Garmin. The flight deck is fitted with three 305mm (12in) displays – two primary flight displays and one multi-function display. The G1000 avionics suite includes a GFC 700 digital dual channel automatic flight control system and a GRS77 attitude and heading reference system which provide digital output referencing of the aircraft’s position, rate, vector and acceleration data. The aircraft has two integrated digital air data computers that are RVSM-compliant, an integrated engine indication and crew alerting system (EICAS), and a class-B terrain awareness and warning system (TAWS). The flight management system incorporates a global positioning system / wide-area augmentation system (GPS/WAAS) which provides positional accuracy of better than 3m 95% of the time. Other navigation systems include VHF navigation and an instrument landing system. The aircraft is fitted with a digital weather radar and a satellite communications weather datalink.

Design Features

The Phenom 300 is a typical twin engine light jet, with aluminum alloy construction and low swept-back wings and high performance winglets. The Phenom 300 is designed to cruise 450 knots (KTAS) with a range 1,800 nautical miles, carrying six occupants and adequate fuel for IFR reserves. It has an all-composite T-tail, trailing-link landing gear with fly-by-wire brakes with anti-skid protection. The tricycle landing gear is electrically controlled and hydraulically actuated. Engineers included spoilers as well as ailerons for the roll control. The wing flap configuration consists of two flap panels with two slots. The Phenom 300 has a moveable horizontal stabiliser but does not have thrust reversers.

Accomodations

The Phenom 300 light jet accommodates up to ten occupants with an interior designed in partnership with BMW Group Designworks USA. At the rear of the cabin is a lavatory with a sink, running water and external servicing. Total cabin volume is 325 cu. ft. Behind the rear pressure bulkhead is a 1.9m3 (66 cu. ft.) unpressurised baggage compartment, large enough to hold six pairs of skis or six golf bags. Overall there is 2.2m3 (76 cu. ft.) of baggage space. In-flight entertainment packages come in three varieties: the basic package offers an audio system with CD player and speakers, the best value option has an audio and video player and a 10.4in display, with wireless headphones and remote controls the premium system adds video displays in front of every seat.
