Aircraft Description
Background/History
The Dassualt Falcon 200 is a recent relative in the Falcon 20 line of aircraft. The Falcon 200 replaced the Falcon 20F on the production line in 1983, after 473 Falcon 20s had been delivered. Orginally designated Falcon 20H, the prototype was fitted with more powerful engines, bigger fuel tanks in the rear fuselage, some minor systems changes, and a redesigned wingroot fairing, flew for the first time on April 30, 1980. The Falcon 200 was certified by the DGAC in June of 1981 and deliveries began in 1982. At the end of production 33 aircraft had been built and delivered to 11 countries.
Power
The Falcon 200 is powered by two Garrett ATF 3-6A-4C engines rated at 5,200 pounds of thrust each. The overhaul interval is on an “On-Condition” basis.
Avionics
The avionics equipment packages installed in the Falcon 200s varied depending on the time period in which the aircraft was built, but all were outfitted with the best analog and electromechanical equipment of the day. Those aircraft still on the market have since been upgraded to electronics, with a typical avionics package consisting of dual Collins VHF 20 comms, VIR 30 navs, dual DME, dual transponders, Collins AP 105 autopilot and a Sperry Primus 400 color weather radar.
Design Features
The Falcon 200 is a medium-size, medium-range business aircraft configured as a cantilever swept, low-wing monoplane with a cantilever cruciform tail section. The airframe is of aluminum monocoque consrtuction and has a retractable tricycle landing gear with dual wheels on each unit. The two turbofan powerplants are mounted on the rear of the fuselage.
Accomodations
The Falcon 200 is typically configured in a eight to 10 passenger arrangement in a double-club arrangement, or a combination of club, divan, and individual seating. The galley is located in the forward cabin and the lavatory can be found in the aft cabin.
