This article continues our exploration of the pre-owned Citation X and the significant enhancements now certified and available for truly modernizing a world-class business aircraft at very little expense and with substantial performance and residual value benefits.
My previous blog discussed incorporating winglets (http://jetav.com/?p=1664) and how this improves performance and ramp appeal. Moving inside and to the cockpit, we are exploring the addition of the state-of-the-art Primus Elite Avionics Suite to the X. The Primus Elite upgrade is designed for the Primus 2000 cockpit integrated suite. The Primus Elite flight deck retrofit delivers the most sophisticated and user friendly display upgrade available today, featuring powerful graphics, advanced features and the improved clarity of liquid crystal display (LCD) technology. Safety enhancements include XM Graphical Weather, Jeppesen electronic charts and maps and video display capability, all enabled through a cursor control interface.
The addition of electronic charts provides airport maps, approach charts with SIDS and STARS, NOTAMS, noise procedures and geographical airspace.
The Electronic moving map with XM Satellite integration provides streaming data for NEXRAD, satellite imagery, turbulence and lightning in conjunction with the moving map functions of airways, position, flight plan, airports and airspace.
Owners and pilots will love the improved situational awareness with electronic charts and XM Weather, increased display reliability as well as a weight savings of up to 45 pounds. Couple all of these together with how the addition of the system will enhance the aircrafts market value and the installation makes for a very strong value based decision. The estimated cost for the install is:
$585,000.00 (5 screen replacement)
$410,000.00 (3 screen replacement)
$315,000.00 (2 screen replacement)
Down Time: 7-10 days
Lead Time: 4 months
Warranty: 2 years on Honeywell products
Cessna owns the STC so contact Tim Cain (tcain@cessna.textron.com) at the Orlando Service Center to get an aircraft specific quote.
So let’s review; we buy an early model X under $6 million; add the winglets for $590K and upgrade the avionics for another $585K max. You have spent approx. $7.2 million and you now have a 3200nm aircraft with state of the art avionics that looks awesome and, by the way, is the fastest business jet on the planet. What’s not to like?
